Esslingen
The last time I graced this country with my presence (for more than a few nights) was in 2009. It was my first look at any country in Europe, and it was everything I hoped it would be. This time around, my hope is to see some places I missed in the first trip.
I started in Stuttgart, after Lisbon. To be honest, I got nothing done. I only booked 2 nights and spent my arrival day sleeping after an all nighter in Lisbon.
Stuttgart provided me a good base to have a solid day of sight seeing. My second day started in Esslingen, a cute small town that’s only a short train ride away.
Here, I experienced my first Weinachtsmarkt. It was small and spread around a few streets and squares. Esslingen combined their Christmas market with a medieval type fair, which was interesting to see over a few hours.
A live band plays traditional music while 2 men spin an antique styled ferris wheel around. At this point, I sat down and enjoyed my first currywurst in 2015, over 6 years since the last time I’ve had it.
I returned to Stuttgart as night fell and made my way to the Weinachtsmarkt in the city. I have to say, I was impressed by the size of this one. I didn’t take any pictures because I was busy with my second round of currywurst for the day.
I didn’t stay long, as it was the first weekend the market was open. If you find yourself in Stuttgart, I highly suggest attending. On a weekday…
Over those 2 nights I ate currywurst 5 times. Can you tell if I missed it?
What did I miss:
-Porsche museum
-Mercedes-Benz museum or something like that
If you like cars, go to Stuttgart :p
Next Freiburg
Enjoyed your latest blog. I know I would have enjoyed the fair and know also have enjoyed the currywurst.
